Rohini Acharya, the daughter of former Bihar chief ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, is on the brink of stepping into the electoral fray and may debut in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Speculations about her political entry were sparked by a social media post from RJD MLC Sunil Kumar Singh, indicating her readiness to venture into politics despite being based in Singapore.

Singh's Facebook post highlighted Acharya's act of donating a kidney to her father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, describing her as a symbol of love, devotion, and dedication. The post also mentioned that party members from the Saran area are advocating for her as the Lok Sabha candidate from Saran.

Saran, currently held by Rajiv Pratap Rudy of the BJP, is significant in Bihar's political landscape. In the 2019 general elections, the NDA, led by the BJP, secured 39 out of the state's 40 Lok Sabha seats, making it a crucial battleground.

Awaiting Confirmation

Despite the buzz surrounding her potential political plunge, Rohini Acharya has yet to respond to these reports. Instead, her recent social media activity has focused on praising her brother, Tejashwi Yadav, the former deputy CM of Bihar.

Should Acharya decide to step into politics formally, she would become the fourth child of the former chief ministers to do so. Apart from Tejashwi Yadav, her siblings include Tej Pratap Yadav, who served as an ex-minister, and Dr. Misa Bharti, a Rajya Sabha MP.

Who is Rohini Acharya?

Acharya holds an MBBS degree, while her spouse, Samresh Singh, is a software engineer and the son of retired income tax officer Rai Ranvijay Singh, who is a close associate of Lalu Prasad Yadav. The couple, married since 2022, have two sons and have spent the last two decades residing in Singapore and the United States.
