New Delhi: A shocking incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh's Etawah where a young man's attempt to secretly visit his girlfriend late at night turned into a terrifying ordeal. When a villager spotted him trying to sneak to his girlfriend's house, the young man attempted to hide, but the situation quickly escalated as the villager raised an alarm, attracting a crowd of angry villagers who arrived with sticks and brutally beat the young man, tying him to a tree.

Once the truth about the situation came to light, the villagers backed down, stating they would not press charges, thus sparing the young man's life.

Villagers beat innocent young man

According to Bechan Kumar Singh, the officer in charge of the Chaubia police station, a late-night encounter between a young man named Sudhir Yadav and villagers in Rampura village took a violent turn when Sudhir, attempting to secretly visit his girlfriend around 11 pm, was spotted by the villagers and mistakenly identified as a thief, prompting them to sound an alarm and gather in large numbers. The villagers, wielding sticks, initially assaulted Sudhir and then bound him to a tree, disregarding his desperate attempts to explain himself and clear up the misunderstanding. 

Police save young man from villagers

Upon arriving at the scene, the police intervened by dispersing the crowd of villagers, taking the young man into protective custody, and transporting him to the police station for further inquiry. According to Bechan Singh, the officer in charge of the Chaubia police station, the young man was detained and questioned, while the villagers were also interviewed, initially claiming that the young man was a thief.

However, during the investigation, the young man revealed that he was merely trying to visit his girlfriend, and the villagers had mistakenly identified him as a thief. Fortunately, both the villagers and the young man expressed a desire to drop the matter, opting not to pursue any further action.
