Maharashtra News: In a shocking series of events, two separate incidents of sexual assault have emerged from Bandra Terminus in Mumbai, raising serious concerns about safety and security at railway stations. The first incident involves a middle-aged woman who was allegedly raped by a porter inside an empty train compartment after arriving from an outstation journey.

A Night of Horror for the Victim

The woman, who traveled with her son, entered another train at Bandra Terminus after disembarking from her outstation train late Saturday night. Unfortunately, the second train was empty except for the porter, who allegedly took advantage of the situation and assaulted her. Following the attack, the woman bravely reported the crime to the Government Railway Police (GRP), leading to an immediate investigation. Police reviewed surveillance footage and quickly arrested the accused porter, who has been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Unrelated Incident: Abandoned Minor Found

In a separate but equally distressing case, a 12-year-old girl was discovered abandoned at Ghansoli railway station in Navi Mumbai. Authorities later confirmed that she had been raped. The girl was found alone on the platform and could not provide any information about herself or her family. Medical examinations revealed signs of assault, prompting police to launch a search for both her family and the perpetrators responsible for this heinous act.

Calls for Increased Security Measures

These incidents have reignited discussions about safety protocols at railway stations across India. With both cases highlighting vulnerabilities in public transport systems, there are growing calls for enhanced security measures to protect passengers, especially women and children. As investigations continue, authorities are urged to ensure that such tragic events do not recur.
