Among the revelations, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerges as the foremost beneficiary of electoral bonds, securing a staggering sum of Rs 6,986.5 crore since the inception of these bonds in 2018. Notably, Future Gaming and Hotel Services emerges as a prominent donor to Tamil Nadu's ruling party, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), contributing a substantial Rs 509 crore through the now defunct payment mode.

Key recipients of electoral bonds

  1. BJP: Leading the pack, the BJP amassed the highest funds through electoral bonds, underscoring its financial prowess in political circles.
  2. Trinamool Congress (TMC): With an infusion of Rs 1,397 crore, the TMC emerges as the second-largest beneficiary, consolidating its financial standing.

  • Future Gaming's Impact: Spearheaded by lottery magnate Santiago Martin, Future Gaming emerges as a pivotal player in electoral funding, directing a substantial Rs 1,368 crore towards political contributions, with a notable portion allocated to the DMK.
  • Transparent Disclosure by DMK: The DMK sets a commendable precedent by disclosing donor identities, fostering transparency and accountability in political financing, a practice not universally adopted by other major political entities.
