New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav made a bold prediction on Friday regarding the current government in Delhi. On Friday, he suggested that the Narendra Modi-led administration at the center might collapse by August. "I urge all party members to be prepared, as elections could be called at any time. Modi's government in Delhi is very unstable and might fall by August," ANI reported, quoting the RJD chief.

Congress's Criticism of Modi Government

Lalu Prasad’s remarks come on the heels of Congress's assertions that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government is losing its legitimacy. Congress has claimed that Modi's authority has diminished to 'one-third' and that his administration is on its 'last legs.' These statements highlight the increasing tension and political maneuvering as opposition parties gear up for potential elections.

Here's what he said:

Modi's response in parliament

Earlier this week, during his reply to the debate on the Motion of Thanks, Prime Minister Modi addressed these criticisms. He remarked that since the election results, a Congress leader has been vocal about the so-called 'one-third government' in place. Modi emphasized that the 2024 general election results demonstrated that people have rejected propaganda and have voted for performance. He stated that the politics of misleading people have been defeated.

Opposition’s revived energy

After the Parliament session, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh commented in an interview about the recent political climate. He noted, "The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha and the simultaneous session of Rajya Sabha have certainly seen two things -- a new, aggressive, revived, rejuvenated Opposition in the INDIA group which is the way it should be in a democracy, but at the same time we have also seen no change in the attitude, approach, behavior of the ‘non-biological’ PM."

Plans for future actions

After the Lok Sabha election results, leaders from the INDIA bloc expressed their commitment to taking appropriate actions at the right time to fulfill the people's desire for change. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge added that the opposition leaders have resolved to continue their fight against what they term the 'fascist rule' of the BJP led by Narendra Modi.

Lok Sabha election outcomes

In the recently held Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 292 seats, while the opposition alliance, INDIA, won 232 seats. This outcome reflects a significant shift in the political landscape, setting the stage for further developments as the opposition seeks to challenge the current government.
