JNU Students
National News: JNU - a name, an idea, and the strongest pulse of student politics in India. Here every election not only decides the post, but draws the direction of thoughts and the streaks of social consciousness. The student union election of 2024-25 was also no different, but was historic in many ways.
This year's election was held at a time when more than political slogans on the university walls, the discomfort and questions of students were echoing-"What will happen to our education?", "Will this institute also go into private hands?" And "whose voice will be the most elevated?" Amidst these questions, about 5,500 students exercising their franchise decided in which hands the future of JNU would be assigned.
The Left alliance (AISA-DSF) again won trusts on three top posts-Chairman, Vice President and General Secretary-. Nitish Kumar (AISA) elected president, who clearly stated that "we will fight the government and bring funds, because this campus is our soul, and the soul cannot be mortgaged." This did not only highlight the seriousness of the problems of the students, but also re -established the ideological commitment of the Left.
Vice President Manisha (DSF) described the victory as the voice of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and the marginalized students. He said, "JNU is not only a degree of place, it is a dream factory - and we are laborers in it, whose work is to make these dreams come true."-
The victory of General Secretary Muntha Fatima (DSF) is the victory of the section that has always been neglected - women, Muslims and marginalized students. Muntha said, "We are the voice that we want to suppress power, but every time we will speak more high."
For the first time, ABVP won the post of Joint Secretary and indicated that the monopoly of the Left is now under the challenge. This victory of Vaibhav Meena is not just a seat, but the return of ideology - the idea that talks about nationalism, discipline and 'new India'. He confidently said, "This is the beginning. The next time all the four seats will be ours." This is not just ambition, but a testimony to the changing mood of the campus.
And this change was not limited to the central panel only - ABVP created history by winning 23 out of 42 seats in the councilor elections. This was his best performance since 1999. Especially in areas such as engineering and social sciences, ABVP's penetration shows that the attitude of students is changing in both technical and social areas.
JNU no longer swing between the two poles - he has taken these two together in a new self -struggle. This fight is more than the Left vs South - this is the question, what does today's student want? Just ideology or its practical solution?
ABVP argues - discipline in education, dedication to the nation.
Alliances such as NSUI and Fartonity are also in the middle - but this time the main contest remained between the same two old forces.
JNUSU election 2024-25 has made it clear that JNU is no longer a stable center of ideas. It has now become a laboratory of debates, conflicts and new options. And this is the beauty of this - that every student brings thinking here, not the slogan.
This election not only chose the leaders, but also decided what would be the next definition of student politics - and that definition is now coming out of the old grooves.
