New Delhi: Former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister and Jananayak Janata Party (JJP) leader, Dushyant Chautala, emphasised the urgency of increasing farmers income during an interview on India Dailys special program, India Manch. Chautala highlighted the challenges faced by farmers, including adverse weather conditions and the lack of fair prices for their crops. He stated that his party has set Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for 14 crops and fair prices for 19 fruits, benefiting the farmers. A system has been implemented to ensure that farmers receive payments for vegetables within 48 hours.Advocating for a Systematic Approach to Farming: Chautala pointed out the necessity of establishing a well-organised system for agriculture, similar to that of Israel. He stressed the need for various changes and technological advancements to harness the full potential of Indian farmers. He believes that India, along with China and Africa, has the capability to end global food hunger and should position itself as a food hub to address this issue globally.Reflecting on Lok Sabha Election Results: When questioned about the JJPs poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections, Chautala acknowledged that every party experiences ups and downs. He expressed confidence that the results of the upcoming Assembly elections would be different, highlighting the efforts of the party workers. He mentioned the remaining 80 days as crucial for their campaign. On Past Alliances and Future Promises: Chautala stated that the youth have high expectations from their party. He criticised the current Haryana government for its lack of effective schemes and promised to stand by the youth for the next 40 years. He urged the youth to vote for the future of the state.Responding to Athlete Protests: Addressing the question of his silence during the January protests by athletes at Jantar Mantar against the then-president of the Wrestling Federation of India, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, over sexual harassment allegations, Chautala admitted to mistakes. He acknowledged the legitimate grievances of the protesters and vowed to address their concerns. On Policies for Bachelors: Chautala dismissed the idea of launching schemes specifically for unmarried men if elected. He refrained from making promises like bringing brides from Bengal and Bihar, as previously done by Manohar Lal Khattar. Instead, he focused on improving the sex ratio in Haryana, which has increased from 833 women per 1,000 men to 916. He emphasised the need for further efforts and societal awareness to improve gender ratio.
