Either shoot me or them: Gang rape victim's demands execution of perpetrators in Indore

New Delhi: In a shocking incident in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a gang of criminals assaulted two army officers and their female companions, leading to the gang rape of one of the women. The attackers, who also took one of the officers hostage and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh, fled the scene upon the arrival of the police. However, authorities quickly apprehended three suspects. The traumatized victim has since made a harrowing plea to the police: "Either shoot me or shoot them."

Details of the incident

The brutal episode unfolded late Tuesday night. According to one of the officers, who holds the rank of Lieutenant, the group had gathered near Ahilya Gate on Mhow-Mandleshwar Road. At approximately 2:30 AM, six assailants launched a violent attack on the victims. The officer recounted that while he and his female friend were on a nearby hill, they heard the screams of the others who were being assaulted. 

The attackers targeted the officer’s friend, who was with a female companion in a car. The friend was severely beaten and taken into the forest, while the officer and his companion were also attacked. The assailants demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh for the release of the hostage. In response, the officer contacted senior officials, who then alerted the police.

Police response

The police promptly intervened, arresting three of the suspects identified as Anil, Pawan Vasunia, and Ritesh. Efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining three fugitives—Rohit, Sandeep, and Sachin—who are currently at large. A reward of Rs 10,000 has been offered for information leading to their capture. Authorities have confirmed the gang rape of the woman, but she remains in a state of severe shock and distress.

Victim's desperate plea

The victim, overwhelmed by her trauma, has been unable to communicate effectively. She has expressed her anguish by demanding that either the perpetrators be shot or that she herself be shot. Her emotional state has left her unresponsive to standard police inquiries, underscoring the profound impact of the ordeal.
