A violent clash erupted between two factions of the Namdhari sect on Sunday, resulting in a shootout that left eight people injured in Haryanas Sirsa district. The conflict reportedly arose from a dispute over a piece of land, and local authorities have since registered a case in connection with the incident.The confrontation began with a heated argument over an 11-acre plot in Sirsas Rania area. Tensions quickly escalated as members from both factions opened fire, leading to injuries for eight individuals. According to a police official, most of the victims sustained bullet wounds, primarily in their legs.Police response and investigationUpon arriving at the scene, police forces managed to bring the situation under control. The injured were immediately transported to Agroha Medical College for treatment. Sirsa Superintendent of Police Vikrant Bhushan confirmed that a case has been registered against both groups, and the district administration is currently reviewing land records to determine ownership of the disputed property.The situation is peaceful, SP Bhushan stated, noting that additional security personnel have been deployed to maintain order. An investigation is ongoing, with authorities verifying video footage of the incident to piece together the events leading up to the clash.Recent clashes among religious groupsThis incident follows a similar violent clash on August 2 in Gurugram, Haryana, where two groups of Kanwariya devotees fought over a Jalabhishek ritual and a DJ competition. The altercation, which occurred in Sector 12, saw one group inflicting serious injuries on the other with swords, while also vandalizing a dozen vehicles. Six people were injured in that clash, prompting the Sector 14 police station to register complaints from both parties involved.
