New Delhi: A devastating fire engulfed a residence in Prem Nagar, Delhi, claiming the lives of four individuals, including a husband, wife, and their two sons. The incident, which authorities believe started in an inverter, resulted in their deaths due to smoke inhalation.

Firefighters rushed to the scene to contain the blaze, but the family succumbed to suffocation before they could be rescued. The tragic incident has once again highlighted the dangers posed by household fires and the importance of fire safety measures in residential areas.

Fire claims lives of four in Delhi

The fire broke out early Tuesday morning around 3:30 am in a house located in Prem Nagar, resulting in the tragic deaths of an entire family. The deceased were identified as Heera Singh (48 years), his wife Neetu Singh, and their sons Robin Singh (22) and Lakshay (21). Initial reports suggest the fire originated from an inverter on the first floor, spreading quickly to engulf the upper floor where the family was sleeping.

Fire started due to short circuit

The fire in the house took a monstrous form in no time. According to the local people, the house was filled with smoke along with the flames. Initial investigation has revealed that the fire started due to a short circuit in the inverter. The sofa was also kept at the place where the inverter was installed. The sofa caught fire due to a spark caused by a sudden short circuit in the inverter. The smoke coming out from the cover of the sofa spread in the house.

Delhi fire service action

The Delhi Fire Service received the distress call from Z Block of Prem Nagar and dispatched two fire engines promptly. Firefighters rescued the trapped individuals and rushed them to the hospital, where all four were pronounced dead.

Not first time
