National News: The investigation of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Robert Vadra, husband of Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, is now seen reaching a decisive turn. According to sources, ED may soon file a charge sheet in the court in three cases related to money laundering. Two of these cases are related to land deals, while one case is related to London -based properties and relations with weapon broker Sanjay Bhandari.
On Wednesday, the ED questioned Vadra for the second consecutive day regarding the land purchase case in Shikohpur village of Gurugram. The inquiry lasted about five hours. According to sources, the ED also placed some documentary evidence in front of Vadra, showing that his company Skylight Hospitality had only ₹ 1 lakh at the time of the registry, while the price of the land was shown to be ₹ 7.5 crore.
Not only this, the check that was mentioned was in the name of Skylite Realty, the second company of Vadra, and there were only ₹ 1 lakh in that account. The ED claims that the land selling company Omkareshwar Properties not only registered, but also deposited the stamp duty of ₹ 45 lakh itself.
Five days after this deal, an application was made to change the land use of land and in just four days, the then Chief Minister of Haryana Bhupendra Singh Hooda approved it. After this, a commercial colony was allowed on 2.7 acres out of 3.531 acres.
According to the ED, after this changed land use, the land was sold to the real estate company DLF for ₹ 58 crore. The investigating agency believes that the entire deal was done in a planned manner, which is expected to be fake and money laundering.
While the second case is related to the sale of sensitive land near the neighboring country Pakistan border, which is related to the land deal in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Vadra and his mother Maorn have also been questioned in this case.
The third case is of transaction related to weapon broker Sanjay Bhandari, which is currently in London. The alleged property deal and mail-jaul are being investigated between Bhandari and Vadra.
ED sources say that Vadra could not give any satisfactory answer to the facts presented by the agency during interrogation. Now the agency is preparing to file a charge sheet in all three cases and will soon request the courts to initiate action.
