Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will announce the dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Saturday at 3 PM. Along with the general elections, ECI will also announce the dates of assembly elections to be held in Odisha, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh. With the announcement of elections, the Model Code of Conduct will be implemented in the entire country.

According to reports, Lok Sabha elections are expected to be held in 7 to 8 phases. According to the report of the news agency ANI, a press conference will be held by the Election Commission at 3 PM on Saturday to announce the schedule of the upcoming elections of 2024. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar along with his newly elected colleagues, Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu will announce the dates for the general elections. 

The tenure of the current Lok Sabha is ending on June 16. For the previous term, Lok Sabha elections were announced on March 10 and elections were held in seven phases from April 11. The results were declared on 23 May.

BJP targets to cross 400 

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has set a target of '400 paar' for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This target was given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

BJP has announced the names of 267 candidates so far. BJP had announced 195 names in the first list and 72 names in the second list. At the same time, Congress has announced the names of 82 candidates in two lists released so far. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is hoping for a third consecutive victory in the Lok Sabha elections, while the Congress-led INIDI alliance is expected to give a tough fight.
