Drishti IAS, one of the most prominent coaching institutes in Mukherjee Nagar, is set to relocate to Noida after the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) sealed its centre, according to the sources. The MCD took this action against Drishti IAS for conducting classes in a basement, a violation of safety norms, following the tragic deaths of three civil service aspirants in Old Rajender Nagar in July.

Anxiety Grips Coaching Hub

The sudden closure of Drishti IAS has sent shockwaves through Mukherjee Nagar, a bustling hub for civil service aspirants. The suspension of classes has left not only students but also coaching institute owners, small business operators, and landlords in a state of uncertainty. Many students, fearful of the instability, have already started relocating to alternative areas like Karol Bagh and Wazirabad, adding to the growing anxiety in the community.

The Future of Mukherjee Nagar in Jeopardy

Concerns are mounting about the future of Mukherjee Nagar as a center for civil service coaching. A senior management member of Drishti IAS expressed grave concerns about the viability of continuing operations in the area. “Mukherjee Nagar may become an empty place in the near future as most of the coaching institutes will have to move out. This is because most of the buildings don’t meet government requirements, and the infrastructure cannot fulfil the rules for fire and safety NOCs,” the senior official stated.
Broader Implications for the Coaching Industry

The relocation of Drishti IAS signals a potential exodus of coaching institutes from Mukherjee Nagar, raising broader concerns about the future of the area. With stringent government regulations and safety standards being enforced, many other coaching centers might also be forced to shut down or relocate, drastically altering the landscape of what has long been considered a premier destination for civil service preparation.
