A daring robbery at a jewellery store in Bihars Begusarai has shocked many after dramatic CCTV footage of the incident surfaced online. The video shows a group of armed men storming the store, triggering a fierce gunfight between the robbers and the store owner, Pramod Poddar, who bravely fired back in self-defence. The police reported that two of the robbers, as well as a store employee were injured in the shootout.Jewellery worth 40 lakh stolenAccording to store owner Pramod Poddar, the robbers made off with jewellery worth ₹40 lakh from his store, located at Patel Chowk, Begusarai. The two injured robbers were apprehended by police and are currently undergoing medical treatment. In the CCTV footage, customers are seen panicking as the robbers entered the store with firearms, demanding everyone step aside. One robber leaped over the counter to seize additional valuables from a cupboard. The gunfight broke out moments later when Poddar defended his store.Store owner Criticises lack of securityPramod Poddar expressed frustration with local authorities, stating that despite his requests for heightened security ahead of Dhanteras, no action was taken. Dhanteras, a key festival before Diwali, typically draws large crowds to jewellery stores, making them prime targets for such crimes.“The criminals opened fire, injuring one of our employees, Ajay. In response, I fired at two of the criminals. The police eventually arrived and arrested both, sending them for medical treatment, said Poddar. He further criticized the delayed police response, pointing out that law enforcement only appeared in large numbers after the robbery had already occurred. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
