A sickening revelation has emerged from Mohali, where the local government raided a momo production factory and revealed disgusting proof of dirty and illegal food dealings. In the course of the checkup, the officials found a dog's head that had been severed and 60 kilograms of stinky meat within the factory. The police and food safety officials destroyed the tainted products immediately and levied hefty fines against the factory owner.
Assistant Food Safety Commissioner, Dr. Amrit Waring, was severely perturbed at the incident. According to him, legal action against the owners of the factory will be pursued firmly. "We are ascertaining whether dog meat was utilized in momo and spring roll production," said Waring in a press briefing. Samples of the rotten meat and sauce were also sent for laboratory examination by the food safety department to find out other possible health hazards.
Locals in the region had been complaining about a stench for a few days from the factory. No action was taken despite repeated complaints. But on Monday, some alert residents took video footage of the unsanitary condition and brought the matter to the notice of the District Health Officer (DHO) of Mohali. The police and food safety authorities went into action immediately, resulting in the shocking revelation.
One of the raid videos has gone viral on social media, revealing the unsanitary conditions within the factory and the gruesome image of a severed dog's head. The video has evoked mass outrage, with citizens calling for stricter regulations and regular inspections to avoid such a situation.
It's not the first time food contamination has been recorded in the country. A comparable case was made recently from Mataur, with authorities seizing spoilt cabbage and other expired contents being served from a food centre. The inspectors also found the momos frying in dirty oil, which calls into question food safety standards for the region.
The government has asked people to be vigilant and report suspicious food activities so that consumers are not harmed.
