Uttarakhand: In a deeply distressing event, a minor dispute over a television remote turned fatal in the Garhi Cantt area of Dehradun, where an elder brother allegedly killed his younger sibling. The incident has shocked the local community, with police promptly arresting the accused. The tragic incident unfolded late at night on Sunday, as reported by the victims brother-in-law, Lakshman Manjhi.Brotherly dispute escalatesAccording to Lakshmans statement to the police, the family resides in Gangol Panditwadi, Gajiwala, where the two brothers, Vijay Kumar, 36, and Neeraj Kumar, 38, lived with their elderly mother, Banarasi Devi. Late at night, Lakshman received a call informing him of a severe fight between Vijay and Neeraj. Upon rushing to the scene with his wife, they found Vijay lying on the bed, severely injured and bleeding. Despite immediate medical assistance, Vijay was declared dead upon reaching the Dehradun hospital.Altercation over TV remote turns deadlyDuring police questioning, Neeraj confessed to his involvement, explaining that both brothers had been drinking together while watching television that evening. When Neeraj requested the remote to turn off the TV, Vijay refused, leading to a heated argument. Enraged, Neeraj attacked Vijay with a sharp knife, fatally wounding him.Family background and police investigationPolice sources confirm that Vijay was unmarried, while Neeraj, though married, lives separately from his spouse. Both brothers worked as labourers and were financially reliant on daily wages.
