New Delhi: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru has arrested a suspected Naxalite from Haryana. The suspect, identified as Anirudh Rajan, was arrested while attempting to visit his girlfriend in the city. Police officials have confirmed that Anirudh was associated with the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), a Naxalite organization. He was reportedly involved in disseminating banned materials and conducting clandestine activities.

Suspect creates fake identity

According to police reports, Anirudh had arrived in Bengaluru 3-4 days prior to his arrest. He was carrying a fake Aadhaar card under the name of Vikas Ghadge. His arrest took place at the KSRTC bus station at around 8 AM on Thursday, while he was preparing to board a bus to Chennai. The ATS team, which had been monitoring his movements, acted immediately to detain him. Further investigations revealed that Anirudh had been raising funds and holding secret meetings as part of his activities. A case has been registered at the Upparapet police station, which is situated in Bengaluru's Central Business District.

UAPA charges against suspect

During the arrest, police recovered two bags, pen drives, and tablets from Anirudh. He has been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), which targets individuals involved in terrorism and activities against the state. Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand confirmed that Anirudh had come to Bengaluru for personal reasons, but his involvement with the banned left-wing extremist group CPI (Maoist) was under scrutiny.

Police custody for further interrogation

Anirudh Rajan has been remanded to police custody for 15 days for further questioning. The investigation will focus on uncovering his connections, activities, and potential plans. According to police sources, Karnataka authorities have already shared details with their counterparts in Haryana, and it is likely that a team from Haryana will arrive in Bengaluru for additional interrogation.
