Delhi has surpassed Mumbai as the ‘most forgetful city’ when it comes to leaving things behind in Uber cabs, according to Uber’s ‘Lost & Found Index 2023.’ Mumbai had previously occupied the top slot but has since dropped to second. Bengaluru came in fourth, followed by Hyderabad in third. It’s interesting to note that Bengaluru topped the list in 2019.
In the past year, customers using Uber have left a variety of objects behind, including phones, bags, purses, apparel, and other personal items. Utility goods like water bottles, keys, and accessories like glasses and jewellery were included after this.
It is noteworthy that several peculiar goods, like brooms, college acceptance cards, and baby strollers, have been abandoned by passengers in Uber vehicles. Additionally, there have been incidents where passengers have left behind personal items like walking sticks or even televisions. Unexpectedly, one individual even failed to remember a Western-style toilet seat!
According to the Uber survey, Indians were most likely to forget stuff on Fridays and weekends. Nitish Bhushan, Uber’s Director of Central Operations, remarked on the survey results, noting that losing valuables might be distressing, but with Uber, passengers can easily call Uber support and request the return of their personal belongings using the app. The hectic summer travel season was about to begin, so it was a good opportunity for a fast refresher, he added, and the yearly survey was a fun way to remind consumers about this service.
According to Uber’s ‘Lost & Found Index 2023,’ the top 10 items most commonly forgotten by riders include phones, laptop bags, wallets, clothing, headphones, water bottles, spectacles/sunglasses, keys, jewellery, and watches. The top 10 most unique items lost by riders include a TV, a western commode, packets of milk and curtains, a broom, a college admits card, a walking stick, an induction stove, a family collage, heavy machinery, and a printed ‘dupatta’ (scarf). Saturday, Sunday, and Friday are the top three most forgetful days of the week. Samsung, Apple, and OnePlus are the top three phone brands left behind, and red, blue, yellow, rose, and pink are the top five colours of forgotten items.
According to Uber’s Nitish Bhushan, the poll intends to remind users of the ease of asking for help for lost things using the app.
