A gas cylinder leak in Delhi's Manohar Park caused a massive fire in which two people died a painful death. At the time of the incident, the mother was cooking in the kitchen when the fire broke out in which three people were injured and two children died during treatment.
A tragic incident took place in Manohar Park, located in the western area of Delhi on Sunday night, in which a gas cylinder leaked and a massive fire broke out. Two minor siblings lost their lives in this horrific incident. According to Delhi Fire Service (DFS) officials, the fire broke out at WZ-7, Manohar Park at around 8:20 pm on Sunday night. Two fire engines were rushed to the spot to control the situation. The children who lost their lives in the accident have been identified as 7-year-old Akash and 14-year-old Sakshi.
According to DFS officials, investigation revealed that the source of the fire was a gas cylinder, which was leaking and the fire spread throughout the house within no time. Three people were injured in the incident, who were immediately rushed to Acharya Bhikshu Hospital by the PCR team. According to Delhi Police, the incident occurred when the 34-year-old woman, Savita, was cooking in the kitchen. Suddenly, a cloth kept nearby caught fire, trapping her son Akash and daughter Sakshi in the room, while Savita and her 11-year-old daughter Meenakshi managed to escape safely.
Akash (7) and Sakshi (14), who were injured in the fire, were rushed to hospital in a critical condition, where both succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Another person, Sandeep Pathak, also suffered minor injuries in the incident. He suffered 5% burn injuries and is undergoing treatment. A team from Punjabi Bagh police station reached the spot to investigate the matter and the exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
A fire incident was also reported in a multi-specialty hospital in the Laxmi Nagar area of the capital late on Sunday night. The fire broke out in Makkad Hospital located in Priyadarshini Vihar at around 11:42-11:43 pm. As soon as the incident was reported, four fire brigade vehicles were sent to the spot at 12:15 pm and after a lot of effort the fire was brought under control. According to reports, the fire started from a bed and window AC located on the ground floor and slowly started spreading to the entire B+G+2 storey building. Due to the timely efforts of the fire brigade, a major accident was averted.
