New Delhi: At least three schools in Delhi have been embroiled in bomb threat incidents, which investigations reveal were orchestrated by their own students. The Delhi Police uncovered that the Venkateshwar Global School was among those targeted, receiving a threatening email just a day after a mysterious explosion occurred at the Rohini Prashant Vihar PVR Multiplex on November 28. According to police reports, the email was sent by two siblings enrolled at the school, who sought to postpone their exams.Students Motivation Behind ThreatsDuring counseling sessions with police, the siblings admitted that they were inspired by previous bomb threat incidents at schools. Their intention was not malicious but rather an impulsive decision to delay their examinations. Following the incident, both students were released after their parents received a warning from authorities. In addition to Venkateshwar Global School, two other schools located in Rohini and Paschim Vihar also received similar bomb threats from their students. The motive in these cases mirrored that of the first: students wishing for school closures. After counseling and parental warnings, those involved were also allowed to leave without further consequences.Widespread Panic in Delhi SchoolsThe recent spate of bomb threats has caused significant chaos across more than 100 schools in Delhi over the past 11 days. The police have been actively investigating these threats, which have been sent via Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), complicating efforts to trace the culprits. Since May of this year, over 50 bomb threat emails have targeted various institutions, including schools, hospitals, airports, and airline companies in Delhi.Despite ongoing investigations, authorities have yet to achieve any breakthroughs regarding these threats. The situation underscores a growing concern about student behavior and the implications of such actions on school safety and community trust. The alarming trend of students resorting to bomb threats as a means to manipulate school schedules raises serious questions about mental health and accountability within educational environments. As investigations continue, it is crucial for schools and parents to foster open dialogues about stress management and appropriate ways to address academic pressures.
