Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital gears up as India logs 798 new Covid-19 infections in past 24 hrs

India has reported 798 new Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours, the union health ministry of India informed on Friday. According to the latest numbers, five people have lost their lives so far, 2 from Kerala, 1 each from Maharashtra, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.

A total of 145 cases of sub-variant JN.1 variant have been reported on December 28.

Keeping the situation in mind, in response to the increase of Covid-19 cases caused by the JN.1 sub-variant in several states, including Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital has made additional preparations, such as reserving patient beds and arranging for testing and oxygen.

Nine ICU beds and fifty isolation beds have been set aside by the hospital administration. In addition, the hospital has made all the necessary preparations for COVID testing, PPE kits, and oxygen.

Meanwhile, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said, "A special ICU has been created for Corona... The government has made its full preparations. A Corona help desk has been created for the patients as soon as they enter the hospital... In December During this period, 69 corona tests have been sent, in which no one has been infected so far... It is expected that similar preparations will be made in all our hospitals... Currently only 4 corona patients have also been admitted... "

It is to ne noted here that several states have been witnessing rise in the cases from past few weeks and nine states and Union territories have so far detected the presence of the JN.1 sub-variant of the virus.
