Delhi’s CM Rekha Gupta Launches ‘Falahar Party’ Initiative, Mirroring Iftar Celebrations

Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has unveiled a novel initiative dubbed the ‘Falahar Party,’ a cultural celebration inspired by the communal spirit of Iftar gatherings, aimed at fostering unity and inclusivity across the capital. Launched on March 28, 2025, this event promises to blend traditional fasting foods with a modern twist, offering Delhiites a fresh way to connect during festive seasons while echoing the city’s rich tapestry of traditions

Like the Iftar parties organized by political parties and governments during the month of Ramzan , now the Rekha Gupta government in Delhi is going to start a new initiative. For the first time, the Delhi government has announced a grand celebration for the Hindu New Year 'Chaitra Shukla Pratipada Nav Samvatsar', in which many cultural and religious programs will be organized including a large-scale 'Falahar Party' during Navratri .

Delhi CM launches 'Falahar Party' initiative in Delhi

The celebrations will begin with a programme at the Delhi Assembly on March 30. The event, which will be chaired by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, will have Chief Minister Rekha Gupta as the chief guest, while Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra will also be present. Several ministers and MLAs are also expected to attend the event.

New Party Tradition in Delhi

Culture Minister Kapil Mishra said about this initiative, 'This is the first time that the Delhi government is celebrating 'Hindu New Year' on such a large scale. This event will start with a grand program on March 30 at the Delhi Vidhan Sabha lawn, in which the entire building will be decorated with lamps, just like it is done on the occasion of Deepawali.' He said that since it is the first day of Navratri, a 'Falahar' program has also been organized for the visitors on this occasion, in which devotees who are fasting will be able to break their fast by eating fruits.

Delhi CM introduces 'Falahar Party'

Apart from this, during Navratri, for the first time, the Delhi government will also organize 'Falahar' programs at other places, in which devotees who observe fast will be able to eat fruits. These programs will be organized on Saptami, Ashtami and Navami days, in which Kanya Pujan program will also be organized. Food will be provided to poor and needy girls and special worship will be done of 9 forms of the Goddess.

New Twist in Delhi

He said that the Delhi government is also preparing to celebrate Ram Navmi , Hanuman Janmotsav and Ambedkar Jayanti on a grand scale. He said, 'This event is an important step towards preserving Indian culture and traditions, our government will continue to organize such programs for cultural awakening in the future too... We request all the citizens of Delhi to participate enthusiastically on the auspicious occasion of 'Falahar Party' being organized for the first time in the history of Delhi and make this cultural festival a success.'
