In response to the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) announcement of a protest at the prime minister's residence, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a significant advisory affecting several key roads in the national capital. According to the advisory, no vehicles will be permitted to halt or park on Tughlak Road, Safdarjung Road, and Kemal Ataturk Marg on March 26. This measure is part of a special law and order arrangement implemented for Tuesday in the New Delhi area.

The advisory emphasises the need for smooth traffic management and states that vehicles found parked on the specified roads will be towed away and the owners prosecuted for improper parking and disobedience of lawful instructions.

Traffic Diversion Plans

The Traffic Police have also outlined potential traffic diversions if required, with plans to divert traffic from key junctions including Aurobindo Chowk, Tughlak Road, Samrat Hotel roundabout, Gymkhana Post Office roundabout, Teen Murti Haifa roundabout, Niti Marg roundabout, and Kautilya Marg roundabout. Additionally, commuters are advised to avoid routes such as Kemal Ataturk Marg, Safdarjung Road, Akbar Road, and Teen Murti Marg during this period.

AAP's Protest Plans

Meanwhile, AAP's Delhi gonvenor Gopal Rai has confirmed the party's intention to gherao the prime minister's residence as a form of protest against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Rai highlighted concerns regarding the treatment of AAP members attempting to meet Kejriwal's family following his arrest in connection with an excise policy-related money-laundering case.

Rai stated that AAP workers and leaders faced detentions throughout the day, leading to widespread discontent and anger among the party members and supporters. He also mentioned a gathering at Shaheedi Park, coinciding with the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, where AAP representatives took a pledge to protect democracy.
