New Delhi: A woman in Delhis Wazirabad has accused a neighborhood doctor of drugging, raping, and deceiving her with false promises of marriage. The police have registered a case and initiated a search for the accused, identified as Varun Yadav, who is pursuing a Masters degree in eye surgery at a private medical college in western Uttar Pradesh.Accused Proposed Marriage, then this occuredAccording to the victims complaint, Varun Yadav initially proposed marriage in 2017 while her divorce proceedings with her first husband were ongoing. The victim declined his proposal at the time. After her divorce, she began teaching at a coaching center for competitive exam aspirants. The victim alleged that in February 2022, Yadav drugged and raped her. Following the assault, he reportedly performed a temple marriage with her and promised to solemnize the union later. However, he continued to delay the formal marriage, citing excuses such as academic pressure and his elder brothers unmarried status.Promises Unfulfilled, Deception RevealedDespite his elder brothers marriage last year, Yadav kept evading the promise of formalizing their relationship. Feeling suspicious, the victim contacted Yadavs mother and discovered she had been deceived. Betrayed and distraught, the victim filed a complaint, accusing Yadav of rape and breach of trust. Based on her allegations, the Delhi Police have lodged an FIR and are actively searching for the accused. The case has highlighted concerns about exploitation and the misuse of trust in personal relationships.
