On Wednesday, Vikas Kumar, the managing director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), stated that the ridership of Delhi Metro stands at 90% of the pre-Covid pandemic levels. Kumar made this statement while addressing the 29th foundation day of DMRC, and added that despite numerous obstacles, the Metro has been able to achieve new milestones.

Kumar said that the Covid-19 pandemic created a number of obstacles for the Delhi Metro and affected its operations. However, he also stated that the DMRC reacted quickly and with determination to overcome these challenges.

According to data from DMRC, the daily number of passengers using the Delhi Metro was between 6-6.5 million before the Covid-19 pandemic, but currently, it is around 5-5.5 million passengers.

Manoj Joshi, the Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, and Naresh Kumar, the Chief Secretary of Delhi, were present at the 29th foundation day ceremony of the DMRC. The ceremony included the recognition of 57 metro employees for their contributions during the past year.

According to the news article, during the DMRC’s 29th foundation day ceremony, it was announced that the Janakpuri West Metro station has been awarded as the best Metro station, and the Yamuna Bank Depot has been selected as the best depot.
