Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the much-awaited 13-km stretch of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, connecting Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar. This Rs 4,600-crore project is a major leap in the direction of better connectivity between Delhi and the surrounding areas. It will offer high-speed, comfortable, and reliable travel to millions, transforming their daily commute.

Development projects worth Rs 12,200 crore launched

Along with inaugurating the Namo Bharat corridor, PM Modi unveiled and laid the foundation stone for some infrastructure and connectivity projects in Delhi which collectively are above Rs 12,200 crores. On the public platforms, he addressed them saying it was the requirement of a Delhi-specific government exclusively working for welfare and development purposes. "The people of Delhi now want a government completely dedicated to the welfare of the people along with the all-round development of the capital," he shared in a social media post.

A ride on the Namo Bharat train

To launch the event, PM Modi travelled on the Namo Bharat Train from Sahibabad RRTS Station to New Ashok Nagar RRTS Station. This project enhances the safety and efficiency of travel for commuters in the public transport system of Delhi.

Delhi metro phase-IV: Expanding urban mobility

The Prime Minister also inaugurated a 2.8-km stretch of the Delhi Metro's Phase-IV between Janakpuri and Krishna Park, worth Rs 1,200 crore. This is the first stretch of Phase-IV to be opened, providing better connectivity to commuters in West Delhi, including Krishna Park, Vikaspuri, and Janakpuri.

Laying the groundwork for future connectivity

PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for the Rithala-Kundli corridor, a 26.5-km section of Delhi Metro Phase-IV costing Rs 6,230 crore. This new corridor will connect Rithala in Delhi to Nathupur (Kundli) in Haryana, which would enhance access for those living in North-West Delhi and Haryana.
