Husband shoots wife, daughter to death (Top Indian News)

New Delhi: Double murder that occurred on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in Delhi’s Narela Industrial Area, where a man brutally killed his wife and minor daughter. The Delhi Police were alerted to a domestic dispute around 9:05 am, with a caller reporting, "A husband and wife are fighting near Pal Wali Gali, Kali Mata Mandir in the Tikri Industrial Area." When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered the lifeless bodies of a woman and her daughter in the ground floor room of their home.

Victims identified, investigation begins

The victims were identified as Seema, 38, wife of Omprakash, and their minor daughter, who had been violently attacked. Early investigations revealed that Omprakash had an ongoing illicit relationship with a woman named Bindu, which led to tensions within his family. On the morning of the crime, Omprakash engaged in a heated argument with his wife and daughter, which escalated into violence. Enraged, he attacked them both with an iron pan (tawa) before fleeing the scene.

Daughter filed POCSO against father

Further inquiry uncovered a disturbing history of conflict. Omprakash’s minor daughter had previously filed an FIR against him under sections 323, 354, and 354B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as well as section 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. This case was filed at the Narela Industrial Area Police Station.

In addition, in 2019, Bindu had lodged a complaint against Seema (the deceased) and Seema’s sister-in-law, Pooja. This case, filed under sections 323, 341, 506, and 34 of the IPC, also originated from the Narela Industrial Area Police Station.

What was the intent behind the murder?

According to police sources, Omprakash had visited Seema and their daughter with the intent of pressuring them to withdraw the POCSO case against him. The situation spiraled out of control, leading to the brutal killings. Seema had been running a small grocery shop from their home, while their daughter was a student in class 9.

The police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for Omprakash, who remains at large. The shocking nature of the crime has left the local community in shock as authorities continue their investigation.
