Delhi Mahila Samriddhi yojana: Women to receive 2,500 monthly, but with THIS key condition

Under the Delhi government's Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, women will receive a monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500. The scheme, set to launch on March 8, 2025, requires applicants to meet specific eligibility criteria, including age and income limits. The government of Delhi is going to implement the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana on International Women's Day, March 8, 2025. The scheme has been introduced with the objective of giving ₹2,500 every month to economically weaker section (EWS) women in the city. The scheme is the BJP government's poll promise of empowering women and providing financial security to poor families.

Eligibility criteria for the scheme

To be eligible for the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, the applicants should satisfy certain conditions:

Women between 18-60 years.

A family's annual income shouldn't be more than ₹3 lakh.

The applicants should not be taxpayers or government employees.

Women receiving benefits under other schemes of the government are not eligible.

The scheme will provide assistance to women who are permanent residents of Delhi and are not beneficiaries of other financial assistance schemes.

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system

The financial support will directly be credited into the beneficiaries' accounts in a bank through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. Beneficiary women can register online from March 8 onwards through a portal specifically created by the IT department. The government has also organized verification camps throughout Delhi to help the applicants to easily complete their registration process.

Launch event and implementation

The scheme will formally launch at a grand ceremony at Chhatrasal Stadium, where some of the beneficiaries will be given their first payment. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said the registration process will be completed within 1.5 months so that funds can be disbursed in time.

A step towards women empowerment

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stressed on the significance of this scheme and said, "Ensuring financial independence for women is crucial for societal progress." The BJP government has also committed that ongoing schemes such as free electricity and water will remain available in addition to this scheme.
