The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding the bail plea filed by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna while hearing the case sought the response from CBI and scheduled the next hearing on July 17. But the judge also noted that Kejriwal had gone straight to the High Court for bail rather than going through the trial court process first.Kejriwal was detained by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with money laundering case when he was taken into custody by the CBI on June 26. On June 20, the trial court in the ED case granted him bail however, on June 25, the Delhi High Court delayed that decision. After that, on June 26, he was taken into custody by the CBI and held there until June 29. After the CBI failed to request an extension of custody, he was placed in judicial custody on June 29 and kept there until July 12.On July 3, he petitioned the High Court for bail in the CBI case. The High Court is currently considering the Delhi Chief Ministers appeal against his detention by the CBI and the trial courts decision to remand him to the agencys custody.Meanwhile, the next hearing has been scheduled for July 17 in connection with the case.
