Delhi: Flooded basement in coaching centre leaves one dead, two students missing (X)

New Delhi: A civil services aspirant lost her life, and two other students are missing after the basement of an IAS coaching center in Delhi's Bada Bazaar Marg was flooded. The tragedy unfolded on Saturday evening when heavy rains caused severe waterlogging in the area. The basement of the coaching institute was flooded with water.

Delhi Fire Department received a distress call at around 7 PM. Upon arrival, rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Delhi Police, immediately began search and rescue operations. The initial reports indicated that students who were attending coaching classes were unaccounted for after the flooding began. The body of a female student was later found at the site.

Challenges in rescue operations

Despite their best efforts, attempts to contact the missing students via their mobile phones have been unsuccessful, as their phones are not reachable.

Whoever is responsible for this incident will not be spared: Atishi

In a post on X, Delhi Education Minister Atishi stated, "There is news of water filling in the basement of a coaching institute in Rajendra Nagar. Delhi Fire Department and NDRF are on the spot. Delhi Mayor and local MLA are also there. I am taking updates of the incident every minute. A magistrate has been ordered to investigate how this incident happened. Whoever is responsible for this incident will not be spared."
