New Delhi: The Rouse Avenue court on Friday issued a warrant for the release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from Tihar Jail. He has been granted bail by the Supreme Court in a corruption case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. Earlier, he was granted interim bail in the money laundering case by the apex court.

Special Judge Rakesh Syal has ordered the release of Arvind Kejriwal by issuing a release warrant, accepting two surety bonds furnished by his counsels, Advocate Rajat Bhardwaj and Vivek Jain. In addition to accepting the surety bonds, the court has also agreed to send the release warrant through a special messenger to expedite Kejriwal's release. This development follows the Supreme Court's order, which was submitted along with the surety bonds to the special CBI judge, paving the way for Kejriwal's release from custody.

In accordance with the Supreme Court's order, MLA Mohinder Goyal and Kuldip Mittal have furnished surety bonds of Rs. 10 lakh each, paving the way for Arvind Kejriwal's release. Kejriwal was initially arrested by the CBI on June 26 in connection with a case, following his earlier grant of bail in a money laundering case by the trial court on June 20. However, the trial court's bail order was challenged in the High Court, and the matter related to his arrest in the ED case is still pending before the Supreme Court. Despite this, Kejriwal was granted interim bail until the Supreme Court's larger bench disposed of the issue. Now, with the surety bonds in place, Kejriwal has been granted bail in the CBI case by the Supreme Court, marking a significant development in the series of legal proceedings.
