New Delhi: The Delhi court on Saturday dismissed a plea filed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, seeking permission for his wife Sunita Kejriwal to attend his medical consultations via video conferencing. In its ruling, the court emphasized that granting Kejriwals request would set a precedent contrary to established prison rules. It cited examples of other inmates undergoing medical treatment who are not permitted similar privileges.Medical Records GrantedHowever, the court did grant Kejriwal access to his medical records, instructing jail authorities to provide documentation of his meetings and consultations with doctors to his wife.Independent Medical Consultation AllowedMoreover, the court allowed Sunita Kejriwal to independently approach the medical board or doctors concerned. She may discuss the preparation of Kejriwals medically prescribed diet, adhering to hospital rules. Background on Kejriwals CaseEarlier, the court extended Arvind Kejriwals judicial custody until July 12 in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-revoked excise policy.Kejriwal arrested by CBI Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI on June 26 from Tihar Jail, where he has been held in connection with the Enforcement Directorates investigation into money laundering since March 21.
