Delhi CM's residence sealed: In a significant move, the Public Works Department (PWD) sealed the official residence of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Wednesday over allegations of illegal use. The residence, previously vacated by Arvind Kejriwal after he stepped down as Delhi CM, was later occupied by Atishi following her appointment as the new Chief Minister. The sealing came amidst an ongoing dispute regarding the vacating and handover of the property, leading to swift action by the PWD.

Chief minister's office claims forced eviction

Responding to the developments, the Delhi Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) issued a statement accusing the BJP of orchestrating the forced eviction. The CMO alleged that the Chief Minister's residence at 6, Flagstaff Road was vacated under the influence of the BJP, with Lieutenant Governor (LG) overseeing the removal of CM Atishi’s belongings. "For the first time in the country’s history, the CM’s residence has been vacated, and belongings were forcibly removed under BJP’s directions," the CMO statement read.

The office further claimed that the LG’s intent was to allocate the property to a prominent BJP leader, with the BJP aiming to occupy the CM's residence, given their 27-year absence from power in Delhi.

No immediate response from LG or BJP

So far, there has been no immediate response to these serious allegations from either the LG's office or the BJP. Meanwhile, the controversy has further escalated, drawing sharp reactions from political leaders.

Earlier in the day, AAP MP Sanjay Singh commented on the situation, noting that officers were refusing to allocate the residence to CM Atishi and had even vacated her camp office within the premises.

BJP responds

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva responded to the situation, calling out the sealing of what he referred to as Arvind Kejriwal's "sheesh mahal." Sachdeva raised questions about the legitimacy of the residence, stating, "How was he staying in the 'sheesh mahal' without proper completion approval from authorities? And why did he want his CM, Atishi, to stay in that house?"
