Delhi Burger King shooting: Anu Dhankar, a 19-year-old known as the ‘Lady Don,’ was apprehended by the Delhi Police Special Cell near the Indo-Nepal border on Friday. Dhankar, implicated in the murder of 26-year-old Aman Joon, allegedly tried to escape to Nepal when officers caught her. The murder, occurring in June at a Delhi Burger King, reportedly stemmed from gang rivalry, with Dhankar’s involvement captured on CCTV.

Burger King incident caught on video

Surveillance footage reveals Aman Joon entering the Rajouri Garden Burger King, where he joined Dhankar at a table. Moments later, multiple men approached and opened fire, fatally wounding Joon. Reports indicate Dhankar fled the scene with Joon’s phone and wallet. Identified as a gang member and alleged girlfriend of fugitive gangster Himanshu Bhau, Dhankar is believed to have assisted in orchestrating the murder as retribution for a previous gang-related killing in Haryana. Bhau, thought to be in Portugal, claimed responsibility for the murder on social media, identifying it as revenge for the death of an associate, Shakti Dada.

Anu Dhankar’s fugitive trail

Nicknamed the ‘Lady Don,’ Dhankar reportedly shared ambitions of a luxurious future with Bhau, who promised her a comfortable life in America. Following the murder, she evaded police by moving across multiple cities. After gathering belongings from her Mukherjee Nagar residence, she took a bus to Chandigarh and then circulated between Amritsar, Katra, Jalandhar, and later Haridwar. Police indicate she hid in Kota, Rajasthan, for four months, financially supported by Bhau throughout her flight.

Arrest at Indo-Nepal border and future plans

In late October, Bhau advised Dhankar to flee as the investigation intensified, allegedly arranging her escape via a Nepal-Dubai route. Dhankar reached Lucknow, then travelled to Lakhimpur Kheri, intending to cross into Nepal, where authorities intercepted her. Police confirmed she has a criminal record, including orchestrating a gunfire incident at Maturam Halwai in January.
