Human Trafficking Case: In a recent development, four airline employees have been suspended by their company in connection with an alleged human trafficking incident at Delhi Airport, as confirmed in an official statement. The move came after a joint operation conducted by Air India SATS (AISATS), Delhi Airport Authority, and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on December 27, 2023.
Sanjay Gupta, the CEO of AISATS, declared that the suspended staff, accused of facilitating the illicit activities, have been handed over to the Delhi Police. Gupta stated, "AISATS actively participated in an operation to unveil and thwart a human trafficking racket operating at Delhi Airport, in collaboration with the Delhi Airport Authority and CISF."
"During the operation, three individuals attempted illegal migration, leading to the apprehension of one individual. Consequently, the implicated staff have been suspended from services and promptly handed over to the Delhi Police for further legal action," he added.
The CISF, deployed at Indira Gandhi International Airport, apprehended four AISATS staff members and a passenger suspected of involvement in human trafficking on Thursday. The CISF, sharing the news on social media, stated, "Vigilant CISF personnel nabbed 4 AISATS staff suspected to be involved in human trafficking along with a passenger @ IGI Airport Delhi. The 4 AISATS staff & the passenger were handed over to Delhi Police."
According to the PRO, the surveillance staff at IGI Airport observed suspicious activities around a passenger, later identified as Diljot Singh (Indian), who was set to travel from Delhi to Birmingham via Air India Airlines flight.
AISATS, in its statement, affirmed its commitment to maintaining operational integrity and upholding the highest standards of safety, legality, and ethical conduct as a responsible organisation.
