New Delhi: In a poignant first address as Delhi's Chief Minister, Atishi expressed her heartfelt admiration for her mentor, Arvind Kejriwal, who previously held the position. Atishi emphasized the urgent mission ahead: to bring Kejriwal back to power. "Today, I have taken the oath as Chief Minister, but it is an emotional moment for us when Arvind Kejriwal is not the CM. He changed the lives of the people of Delhi. We all have to do just one thing now—make Arvind Kejriwal the Chief Minister of Delhi again," she stated during her inaugural speech.

Kejriwal’s Legacy of Integrity

Atishi lauded Kejriwal’s commitment to honesty, highlighting his decision to resign in the wake of legal challenges. “Setting an example of integrity, Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the chief minister’s post. He said, ‘The court's decision alone is not enough. I will go to the people's court, and I will not return to the Chief Minister's seat until the people of Delhi declare that I am honest,’” she remarked.

Formation of the new cabinet

Sworn in as the 8th Chief Minister of Delhi during a ceremony at Raj Niwas, Atishi succeeds Kejriwal, who resigned earlier this week following his release on bail related to the liquor policy case. Alongside her, five cabinet ministers were also inaugurated, including Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Imran Hussain, and newcomer Mukesh Ahlawat. With assembly elections approaching in February next year, Atishi's tenure is expected to be brief yet impactful as she aims to solidify AAP’s vision for Delhi.
