Delhi: 11 dead, 4 injured after massive fire breaks out in paint factory in Alipur

The fire broke out in Alipur at around 5:25 PM. At least 22 fire tenders were present at the spot.

At least eleven people were killed and a few injured in a fire which broke out in a paint factory in outer Delhi's Alipur on Thursday. According to Delhi fire services department officials, four others including a police constable were also injured in the fire that broke out in Dayal market at around 5: 30 PM. 

The deceased are yet to be identified and the bodies have been shifted to Babu Jagjeevan Ram Hospital, and the four injured persons have been moved to Raja Harish Chandra Hospital.

About massive blast at paint factory

According to the Delhi Police, the fire was preceded by a blast, probably caused by chemicals kept in the factory. Due to the blast, some nearby houses and shops also caught fire. Some of the injured persons were residing in those places. 

As a result of the blast, few houses and shops also caught fire. Some of the injured were residing in those places. The blaze was brought under control by 9 PM, the fire official said, adding that the cooling-off operation is underway. 

Same incident in Delhi's Shahdara and Pitampura

Recently, four people, including a nine-month-old girl had died of suffocation and two were injured when a fire broke out in a house on the ground floor of a multi-storey building in Delhi's Shahdara area on January 26. 

Similarly, six people, including four women, were killed in a fire that broke out in a multi-storey building in northwest Delhi's Pitampura on January 18.
