Uttarakhand: In a shocking incident from Dehradun, a divorced woman was swindled out of ₹6.08 lakh by a tantrik who falsely promised to reunite her with her son. Since her divorce, her son had been living with his father, but instead of seeking legal recourse, the woman turned to a tantrik after finding him on social media. The tantrik assured her he could solve her problem and demanded an initial deposit of ₹5,500.
After the initial payment, the woman, named Swati Agarwal, was lured into a larger financial trap. The tantrik, identified as Radheshyam Baba, along with his team, repeatedly pressured her into sending more money under various pretexts. Eventually, they managed to extort a staggering ₹6.08 lakh from her. When the woman finally realized that she had been scammed, she approached the police for help.
According to Inspector Patel Nagar, an FIR has been registered based on Swati's complaint. The inspector confirmed that Swati had been in contact with the fraudster via Instagram, where the tantrik's page offered various "solutions." After the initial contact, the fraudsters persuaded her to part with large sums of money, even going so far as to force her to sell her jewelry to meet their demands.
The police are currently investigating the matter and have initiated efforts to trace and apprehend the fake Baba and his associates.
