Dehradun: Man clicks obscene pictures of woman, demands Rs 2 lakhs

New Delhi: A harrowing case has come to light from Uttarakhand's capital city of Dehradun where a 27-year-old woman has accused someone of blackmailing her and the police have registered a case. She says that a young man clicked obscene photos of her and used those pictures to blackmail her. The suspects demanded two lakh rupees to not share the photos on social media platforms.

Victim receives calls from an unknown number 

The woman filed a complaint at the cyber crime police station, which sent it to the Patel Nagar police station. The Patel Nagar police have registered a case based on the woman's statement. She received inappropriate messages and obscene photos on June 18 via Facebook. These messages came from a user named Amit Baba. Later, she received messages on WhatsApp from an unknown number with some edited and obscene photos of her and her friend.

She was threatened to delete these photos or they would be shared online, and she was asked for two lakh rupees. She didn't pay the money. After that, she received calls from several unknown numbers threatening to share the photos online. She filed a written complaint at the cyber crime police station.

Investigation is underway 

The case was reported from there. Inspector KK Luthi said that a case of blackmailing against unknown cyber criminals has been registered. The police are investigating the matter. Police sources said that the accused young man will be arrested soon.

Hindu mob attacked Christians

In a separate incident, recently in Dehradun, where Deeksha Paul, a 35-year-old resident of Nawada was preparing for a weekly prayer meeting on Sunday morning when a group of Hindutva activists forcefully entered her house. They assaulted seven people, including women, vandalized property, and made derogatory remarks about the Christian religion, accusing them of engaging in religious conversion.
