Comedian Kunal Kamra has stands firm and unapologetic. He told the cops that he has no regrets about his statement on 'traitor' or 'anti-national'. Along with this, the comedian has also told Mumbai Police that he will apologize on this issue only when the court asks him to do so. Let us tell you that Kamra's comment is being seen in the context of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and people of the ruling party including Shiv Sainiks are creating ruckus on this issue in the state. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also said on Monday that the 'stand-up comedian' has insulted Shinde with his comment and he should apologize for this. Fadnavis told journalists in the state legislature premises that Kamra's act is condemnable.
Kunal Kamra Unapologetic
A Media report quoted sources as saying that Kamara has told Mumbai police that he has no regrets over his 'traitor' or 'anti-national' remarks and will only apologise if asked by the courts. Police sources have also revealed that Kamra has also denied allegations and rumours that he was paid by the opposition to target Eknath Shinde. The report said that Kamra has also asked the police to investigate his financial transactions to find out whether he has been paid by anyone or not.
FIR lodged against Kamra
Shiv Sena workers had allegedly vandalised the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar area of Mumbai, where Kamra's programme was shot. It was during this programme that Kamra had taunted Shinde by using the word 'traitor'.
Defiant Kamra says 'No Regrets'
Kamra had sung a modified version of a song from the film 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai' on his show, referring to Shinde's 2022 rebellion against then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray . People have stamped Shinde as the true successor of (Shiv Sena founder) Bal Thackeray's legacy."
