The Defence Ministry of India has approved Rs 2,800 crore proposal to purchase around 6,400 rockets for Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher systems.According to ANI reports, The Defence Acquisition Councils meeting with the Defence Ministry has cleared the proposal for the acquisition of rockets. This India-made Piaka weapon system is named after the Hindu god Shivas bow. This was specially developed for the Indian Army. India exported the weaponry system to many countries including Armenia. During the Kargil War, Pinaka was deployed and proved effective in neutralizing Pakistani forces.
