Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his 73rd birthday on Sunday with full packed schedule for the whole day. Modi said he was ‘deeply touched’ by wishes that poured in from all over the country and the world.

“Deeply touched by the outpouring of wishes from all over India and the world. I thank each and every person who has shared their wishes. Overwhelmed to see so many people engaging in selfless social work on this day. Every gesture is special and strengthens our collective spirit,” he said in a post on X (previously Twitter).

How PM Modi spent his birthday

PM Modi celebrated a busy birthday by attending different events throughout the day. He began the day with the inauguration of the Delhi Metro’s Airport Express Line to Dwarka Sector 25 in the national capital which is a newly-built facility with the station named as ‘Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 Station. To reach the destination, Modi travelled in the Metro from the Dhaula Kuan station.

Following this, PM Modi also inaugurated the phase one of the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), named ‘Yashobhoomi.’

On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, he also launched the PM Vishwakarma Yojana at the event, which aims to help the traditional artisans and craftsmen to take loans without collateral.

Modi’s birthday wishes

Modi also received birthday wishes from Amit Shah, Abhishek Banerjee, Rahul Gandhi and many more earlier today.

PM Modi also received a special birthday wish from the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni who conveyed her greeting on her ‘X’ handle and called Modi a dear friend.

Modi, who has been prime minister since 2014 and is currently serving his second term following re-election in 2019, is the first prime minister born after independence. He is India’s 14th Prime Minister, and he will run for a third consecutive term in parliamentary elections in April-May of next year.
