Swami Chakrapani Maharaj, the national president of the All India Hindu Mahasabha, made an extraordinary demand to declare the Moon as a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ (Hindu nation) and designate the landing site of the Chandrayaan-3 mission as its capital.

The Hindu seer urged the Indian government to assert its sovereignty over the Moon before other religions and called for a parliamentary resolution to support this claim.

In a video shared on the social media platform X, Swami Chakrapani Maharaj emphasised the urgency of this action to prevent any potential ‘terrorists’ from reaching the Moon.

“I thank PM Modi for naming the touchdown point of Chandrayaan-3 on Moon as ‘Shivshakti’. The moon should be declared a Hindu Sanatan Rashtra by Parliament. The landing place of Chandrayaan 3 should be developed as its capital, “Shiv Shakti Point”, so that no terrorist with a jihadist mentality can reach there,” Swami Chakrapani said in the video.

After the historic soft landing of ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon’s south pole, Prime Minister Modi announced the name ‘Shiv Shakti Point’ for the site where the lander touched down. This decision was welcomed by ISRO chief S Somanath, who said that the naming held significance and was in line with Indian sentiments.

“PM narrated the meaning of it in a manner that suits all of us. I think there is nothing wrong with that. And also he gave the next name to Tiranga and both are Indian-sounding names. See, we must have a significance of doing what we are doing. And he has a prerogative of naming it being the Prime Minister of the country,” Somanath said.

Meanwhile, Swami Chakrapani has been known for his eccentric actions and outlandish comments. In 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, he organised a ‘gaumutra party’ in New Delhi, where he and his Hindu Mahasabha followers consumed cow urine in an attempt to counter the disease.

“Coronavirus has come because of the people who kill and eat animals. When you kill an animal, it creates a sort of energy that causes destruction in that place. They [global leaders] should get cow urine imported from India because the almighty resides only in the Indian cow and not in any foreign breed,” he said.

During the 2018 floods in Kerala, he suggested that those who consume beef in the state should not receive any assistance. Earlier this year, he established a ‘Dharma Censor Board’ to monitor media content, aiming to prevent content that disrespects Hinduism from being showcased in Bollywood films, web series, and music videos.
