What did the BJP State President Say?
Annamalai, the president of BJP in Tamil Nadu wrote a letter to the union minister Amit Shah requesting for a CBI inquiry for the Kallkuchiri case. The state president blamed the ruling DMK government for allegedly being involved with the local liquor sellers leading to this incident.
The BJP state President wrote that a similar thing happened in Marakannam which claimed 23 human lives. Under the DMK government, around 60 people have lost their lives due to booch in the past 2 years.
The family members of the deceased from Kallakuchiri claimed that illicit liquor was very easily accessible to the people and it was being told in the most cream areas of the town.
The state government has decided to conduct a judicial inquiry into the matter and has given this responsibility to a retired judge B. Gokuldas to submit the report within three months. Tamil Nadu CM has announced to give a sum of Rs 10 lakhs to the family of the deceased and an amount of Rs 50,000 to those who are under treatment in hospitals.
