Leopard attack in Madhya Pradesh: A leopard attacked a group of picnickers in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol district on Sunday, leaving three people injured. The incident, which took place in the South Forest Division near the Son River in Khitauli, was caught on video and has since gone viral, sparking widespread criticism on social media.

Picnickers instigate leopard before attack

According to reports, the group of men spotted the leopard in the bushes and began provoking it by calling out to the animal. In the viral video, some of the men can be heard saying, "Aa jaa, aa jaa" (Come here, come here), taunting the wild cat. Moments later, the leopard charged at them, causing panic among the group. While some continued to scream and record the event, others shouted, "Are nahi, mat kar" (Hey! No. Don’t do this).

Social media outrage over reckless behavior

The video has drawn sharp criticism from social media users, with many condemning the picnickers for provoking the animal. One user commented, “Clear instructions not to tease animals, now enjoy the bite.” Another remarked, “Asked for it, didn’t they? Law-abiding citizens for sure.” A third user expressed frustration, saying, "Humans will never learn."

Injured identified, advisory issued

The three injured individuals have been identified as Nitin Samdariya, an assistant sub-inspector with Shahdol police, and residents Akash Kushwaha and Nandini Singh, all of whom hail from Shahdol town, located about 100 km from Khitauli.

Sub-Divisional Forest Officer Badshah Rawat told NDTV, "An advisory has been issued. We have asked officials to warn villagers and others not to venture into the forest. A control room has also been established to assist in such incidents."
