Simultaneously, President Joe Biden hosted a grand Diwali event at the White House, bringing together over 600 prominent Indian Americans, including Congress members, officials, and corporate leaders. This celebration highlighted the contributions of the Indian American community to the fabric of American society. Notably, astronaut Sunita Williams joined the event virtually from the International Space Station, showcasing the diverse representation of Indian Americans in various fields. Garcetti took to social media to describe the Diwali festivities as “beautiful,” emphasizing the importance of this festival in honoring the enduring bonds between India and the United States.
As Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, both Garcetti's spirited dance and Biden's White House event illuminate the strengthening of US-India ties.
