New Delhi: A harrowing incident of sexual assault involving two young girls at a kindergarten in Badlapur, located in Maharashtra’s Thane district, has come to light. The parents of one of the victims filed a complaint detailing the trauma their child endured at the hands of an alleged school attendant.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the assault occurred between 9 am and 12 pm on August 13. The parents of one of the girls became suspicious after speaking with the family of another child who mentioned that they were planning to file a sexual assault complaint. Concerned for their daughter, the parents took her for a medical examination, which revealed that her hymen had been breached, according to the complaint.

In the FIR, the parents reported that their daughter appeared terrified and confided in them that a “dada” (Marathi for elder brother) at the school had taken off her clothes and touched her private parts. This disturbing revelation prompted the family to contact the police.
The complaint also alleges a delay in police response, stating that the family informed the authorities on August 16, but the FIR was only registered 12 hours later, around 9 pm. The accused, identified as Akshay Shinde, an attendant at the school, was subsequently arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He faces charges under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those related to rape, assault, and sexual harassment.
