As per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, there will be an increase in the allowance for housing rent, children's education, transportation, etc., if the DA reaches 50%. The take-home pay package for employees of the central government would probably rise dramatically as a result of these raises.

According to IANS, the Center is expected to announce a 4% increase in dearness allowance (DA) this month to make up for inflation, so central government employees may soon have some good news.

Benefits of DA

There will be a four percent increase in the present 46 percent DA after the central government announces this raise. The take-home pay package for employees of the central government would probably rise dramatically as a result of these raises.

Employees to recieve back pay

According to IANS, following an increase in DA and DR (which also applies to retirees), the increase would take effect in January 2024, meaning that both government employees and pensioners would receive back pay for months past.

CPI-IW data

The Labour Bureau, a division of the Ministry of Labor, releases CPI-IW data each month. For January, the CPI-IW is 138.9. The Center typically updates the DA in January and July of each year.

The previous DA raise was declared by the national government on October 18, 2023, and it took effect on July 1st, 2023. Prior to the increase, on March 24, 2023, the DA was declared, and it became operative on January 1.
