Critical Security Summit: Modi, Rajnath, Doval, Chauhan Meet at PM Residence Post-Pahalgam

In response to the devastating Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives on April 22, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level security meeting at his official residence on April 27, 2025, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan.

Security Meet at PM's Residence (File)

After the Pahalgam terror attack, the government is taking strict steps and brainstorming is going on at the top level. After the killing of 26 people in Pahalgam, the government is continuously increasing pressure on Pakistan and has also expressed its intention to take strict action. In this connection, a meeting was held at the PM residence today in which apart from Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval and CDS Anil Chauhan were also present.

Discussion on security situation in Jammu and Kashmir
According to reports, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack. The meeting comes at a time when India is considering its options to punish those responsible for the April 22 terror attack. India has promised to give severe punishment to those involved in the attack. On Sunday, the Prime Minister had said that the perpetrators and conspirators of the Pahalgam attack will be given the harshest punishment. Modi said in his 'Mann Ki Baat' address, "The whole world stands with 140 crore Indians in our fight against terrorism. I once again assure the affected families that they will get justice and there will be justice. The criminals and conspirators of this attack will be given the harshest response."

26 people killed in Pahalgam
On 22 April 2025, terrorists killed 26 people in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. 25 of these people were tourists and were shot after asking their religion. It was the deadliest attack in the valley after the Pulwama attack in 2019. The Resistance Front, a shadow organisation of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group, claimed responsibility for the attack. According to sketches released by security agencies, three people are believed to be involved in the attack - who have been identified as Pakistanis.

Modi government took tough decisions
After this major terrorist incident, the Modi government took five major decisions indicating strict action. The biggest decision among these was the decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty. Pakistan even threatened war over this. But India has continuously taken strict decisions without getting distracted. The houses of about 7 terrorists in Kashmir have been completely demolished. Action has been taken against the associates of the terrorists. At the same time, the investigation of the incident has been handed over to the NIA and raids have been carried out at 63 places in Kashmir.
