This case, which has been under intense public and media scrutiny, has finally reached a conclusion that exonerates the law enforcement officers involved. Atiq Ashraf, a well-known figure in the community, was murdered under circumstances that initially led to questions about police conduct and the potential misuse of authority.

The Atiq and Ashraf murders 

Atiq and Ashraf were slain on April 15, 2023, at Prayagraj's Colvin Hospital, as is known. The commission concluded that the event occurred unexpectedly and that the police response was prompt and appropriate after examining the testimonies of 87 witnesses, CCTV, and investigative film. Nine seconds were spent on the murder. As a result, the police were unable to act quickly. The report also states that in order to ensure Atiq and Ashraf's safety, the police sent out more officers than usual. From jail to detention, there were robust security measures in place.
